Behind the Twin Connection: P&C Employees Share Their Stories

Twins have always sparked our curiosity, raising questions like whether they finish each other’s sentences, if their moms dressed them alike, or if they can sense when the other is in distress.

To explore these mysteries and more, we chatted with three employees at P&C Insurance who happen to have twins of their own!

Tom and Jim Quentin

Tom Quentin, Account Executive-Accountant at P&C, has a twin brother named Jim. The photo here shows the brothers at Tom’s wedding this past summer. Banking runs deep in their family; their father served as the President of Saco & Biddeford Savings for many years.

“We look alike, often think alike, and share many of the same interests,” Tom says. “A lot of our closest friends overlap, and we even live near each other.”

However, Tom notes that they don’t conform to all the classic twin stereotypes. For example, their parents didn’t dress them alike as kids, they didn’t attend the same school or college, and despite what some might think, Tom cannot read Jim’s mind!

Lately, Tom says he finds it amusing that they’ve developed a habit of scheduling haircuts on the same day without realizing it. “We share the same barber, and it’s funny to show up at the shop at the same time!”

Jake and Jordan Laplume

Jake Laplume, an Account Manager for Commercial Lines, was recently highlighted for his love of golf. He and his twin sister, Jordan, grew up on a golf course in North Carolina, where they spent many hours on the greens with their dad, who passed on his passion for the game.

Jake shares that while he and Jordan don’t finish each other’s thoughts, he can often tell when something’s bothering her. “I’ll reach out to make sure everything’s okay,” he says. While their outfits were often similar as kids—he wore blue and she wore pink—he adds that they didn’t always dress alike intentionally.

Shawna and Shannon Lancaster

Shawna Lancaster, also an Account Manager for Commercial Lines, has a twin sister named Shannon. Shawna reveals that her mom didn’t even know she was having twins until after Shawna was born!

“She told the doctor it still felt like there was another baby to deliver, and the doctor said, ‘Yes, you do!’” Shawna laughs, recalling the surprise her mom got that day.

Growing up, Shawna and Shannon were very close, often finishing each other’s sentences and dressing alike, though they each preferred different colors. “I can always tell when something’s bothering her—and she can tell when something’s off with me, even if we say we’re fine,” Shawna says.

Shawna also shares a funny story about how her boyfriend’s mom didn’t know that she was having twins either. “She had a big surprise that day, too!”

Without a doubt, twins have a special bond that sets them apart.  Whether it’s Tom and Jim Quentin’s unexpected haircut synchronicity, Jake and Jordan Laplume’s shared passion for golf, or Shawna and Shannon Lancaster’s deep intuitive connection, it’s clear that being a twin creates a special dynamic that goes beyond what we can see on the surface.
